Any suggestions for playing at Reynolds Plantation in Lake Oconee, Georgia? I'm scheduled for Rees Jones' Oconee course at the Ritz-Carlton, Tom Fazio's National Course, and Jim Engh's Creek Club.
Sounds like you're pretty well outfitted for a great trip, Jon. However, we'll say this: If we could only play two rounds of golf at Reynolds Plantation, they would be on the Oconee and Great Waters courses. The back nine of GW, in particular, is a gorgeous stretch of golf that runs entirely along the lake.
We haven't yet played the Creek Club, as it only opened on June 1 of this year, but we are fans of Jim Engh's work and wouldn't be surprised in the least if he created another stellar layout there.
Off of the Reynolds Plantation campus (by about 15 minutes), The Golf Club at Cuscowilla would probably be our first choice. It's the Ben Crenshaw / Bill Coore design that was largely responsible for gaining them immediate respect (and a lot more jobs) as a design team. Cuscowilla allows daily fee play Tuesday through Thursday. Friday through Sunday, you have to be a member or stay on-property.
Hope this helps. Have a great trip!
